Innovations to help you every day...

Delivering the best quality of eye care is just the first step in our service journey with our partners.

Being professional and maintaining a high standard when assisting others is a much needed necessity for us, but we make sure to take ourselves to the next level by focusing on the person at all times.

This is otherwise known as being ‘person-centred’, and in this blog we are going to take a look at why we do this and what it means for each and every person we assist.

We believe in leading the way in assisting each people day to day through innovations in our service.

Our Lifestyle Passport and Questionnaire, as well engraving every pair of glasses with the wearer’s details go a long way to achieving this.

These innovations help both the person and those responsible for their care make it easier than ever to know when and what pair of glasses are required for every activity they enjoy.

Everyday our team will focus their efforts on enabling elderly people, often living with some form of dementia, to see the world better through improved vision.

For those living with dementia, it can be common for them to have some memory loss and depending on how developed their dementia is can have difficulty in remembering things.

Memory loss is not just exclusive to those with dementia however, and many of those we help may also have trouble remembering the smaller details.

Contrary to popular belief this is not an inevitable part of getting older as our brains are still very much capable of producing new brain cells at any age, so significant memory loss is not to be taken for granted.

It is important to differentiate between memory loss and dementia as they are not one and the same.

Whereas one will trigger lapses in memory, dementia is a persistent and progressive decline in cognitive functions including memory, language, judgements and abstract thought.

Each and every one of the team here at Visioncall appreciate and understand this, which is why we introduced new ways to assist elderly people living with some form of memory loss.

After requesting a sight test with us our partners can then fill out a Lifestyle Questionnaire with resident’s to establish what activities they enjoy daily.

The next step is for our team to carry deliver the sight test, and using the information from the questionnaire we can make a recommendation based on how their eyes are and also what will be best to help them in their daily lives.

All of this information is then used to generate a Lifestyle Passport and Eye Wear Reminder for the person, a document which can be kept handy in the home for quick reference on a daily basis.

Both documents will detail who tested the person, what method was used, the activities they enjoy and of course what pair of glasses they need to be wearing for them.

Of course all of this wouldn’t be possible without spectacles, and once an order has been placed we will manufacture each pair ourselves and engrave each pair with the wearers name and what they are to be used for.

This is to not only help them remember, but also assists residential staff and loved ones if they are found away from the patient.

Each engraving is discreetly place on the inside of the frame, as we are sure you will agree, you want to keep the style of your glasses intact!

We include this as standard for every person we assist, and the reasons for doing so is simple… to truly deliver person-centred care, better vision and a better quality of life for our patients.
